History of the Church
In the late spring of 1965 Bro. George Bailey called his son, Rev.
P.C. Bailey, and asked him to come to Villa Rica to have prayer
meeting in his home. Rev. Bailey had recently resigned as pastor of
the Pentecostal Church in Rockmart, Ga. Rev. Bailey told his dad
that he thought God had a work for him in Villa Rica and he would be
glad to conduct the prayer meetings.
At the very first meeting on July 10, 1965 the attendance was so
large the service had to be moved out in the yard. The men would
come early and go to the back of Bro. George's property and pray
before each service. Winter was coming and they needed a place for
the people to worship inside. Another church in town had just
finished a new building and their old building was for sale, an
answer from God!
The building wasn't much - block walls, no bathroom, no water, no
air conditioning. Very shortly after purchasing the building an
addition was started on the church.
In 1973 the land adjoining the church's property was purchased. On
July 22, 1975 a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new
sanctuary that would seat 400 people, a fellowship hall and 7 Sunday
school rooms. In November 1975 the first service was held in the new
sanctuary. In 1999 we built a large activity building and remodeled
the old church building for an additional activity center. God has
really blessed the First Pentecostal Church of Villa Rica. |
